Your mission: Vault Zero
Choose Timed mission or untimed Practice, then a difficulty. Start mission aligns the game once and Vesper approaches the terminal. Skip intro is available immediately. Click the glass code panel or Ready to type to focus the real input. Your first correct or incorrect typed character starts the countdown; focusing, skipping, and modifier keys do not.
These are fictional mission puzzles. Nothing is executed. The device, hero, and terminal controls are invented artwork; the game teaches matching text, not handling real dangerous devices.
Four stages, one countdown
Link the terminal, align the invented signal, stabilize the protective field, and complete the final confirmation. Finishing a block changes the chamber and immediately reveals the next block. The timer continues between stages. Beginner gives 4 minutes, Standard 3 minutes 30 seconds, and Advanced 3 minutes. These are game difficulty choices, not validated learner levels. Practice has no time limit or ranked score.
Match the code exactly
Type ordinary letters, digits, and punctuation as shown. Beginner uses lowercase words, dots, parentheses, straight double quotes, and semicolons. Standard adds capitals, commas, and digits; Advanced adds square brackets and underscores. Space is literal. Enter matches an authored line break and never submits or executes anything. Tab moves focus normally and pauses.
Wrong characters count as rejected attempts and do not advance: try the highlighted character again. Backspace removes the last accepted character of the current stage without erasing historical errors. Completed stages stay accepted. Paste, drop, and automatic replacement are unavailable. A committed batch belongs to its starting stage; any suffix after completing that stage is discarded.
Pause, resume, and replay
Use Pause, or Escape while typing. Moving focus away from the input, switching tabs, leaving the window, or a browser delay of at least 1.5 seconds pauses safely. Choose the centered Resume button to continue. Returning to the tab never resumes automatically. Display changes also pause and preserve your prefix, stages, and active time.
Retry mission keeps the exact plan and difficulty with a fresh attempt. New attempt returns to setup with another of the three reviewed plans for that difficulty. Restart or Mission setup during play asks before abandoning the attempt. Leaving or reloading returns to setup; partial attempts are not saved.
Sound, motion, and a bigger view
Sound effects default to On at 35% for new game settings, while an existing explicit global mute is respected. Start, Resume, or Enable sound unlocks optional synthesized audio. Use Settings for volume and Low motion; zero volume is silent. Low motion also follows your device preference and shows static story states. Every cue has a visible counterpart.
Full screen requests native fullscreen for the entire game shell. Browser support varies. If declined, Use expanded view fills the browser viewport and is labeled separately. Exit returns to the page. Start never requests fullscreen. On phones, tap Ready to type after the approach to open your keyboard.
Results stay on this browser
Timed score is 100 points per completed stage, plus twice the whole remaining seconds on success. Failed missions keep only stage points and cannot become successful-mission bests. Accuracy is correct attempts divided by correct plus rejected attempts, including retyped characters; Backspace does not erase errors. These results do not affect typing-test WPM, lesson mastery, weak keys, assessments, or personal pace.
The game stores up to 50 recent terminal results, nine compatible exact-plan bests, settings, and a general completion count. Different plans may have different lengths, so bests compare only the same plan, difficulty, and versions. There are nine finite reviewed plans, not unlimited generated missions. Use Stats data controls to export, import, or Delete All. If saving fails, results stay visible with Retry saving and Export this result. See Privacy.
