What the assessment checks
A warm-up is followed by home-row patterns, practical words covering A–Z, capitals, all ten numbers, common punctuation, and short original sentences. The warm-up is not scored.
How your starting recommendation works
WordsFlare looks first at accuracy and the amount of evidence in each keyboard area. When several areas need practice, the earliest useful foundation in the existing beginner course is recommended. The recommendation never changes course completion or mastery.
Why accuracy matters more than speed here
A careful, accurate result can support a later starting point even when WPM is modest. Fast typing with repeated errors leads to an accuracy-focused recommendation instead.
What the assessment cannot measure
WordsFlare cannot verify which fingers you physically use. For guided US QWERTY finger placement, choose a course lesson with the keyboard and hand guide.

How long does the typing assessment take?
It usually takes about 3–5 minutes. There is no strict overall timeout, so careful beginners may take longer.
Does the assessment test typing speed?
WordsFlare records WPM as secondary context, but accuracy and keyboard control carry more weight in the starting recommendation.
Can WordsFlare tell which fingers I use?
No. The assessment measures typing accuracy and keyboard control. It cannot verify which physical fingers you used.
Will the assessment skip typing lessons?
No. It recommends a starting point but never completes, masters, skips, locks, or unlocks lessons. You remain free to choose any lesson.
Where are my results stored?
Completed summaries and aggregate per-key evidence stay in this browser. No account is required, and raw keystroke timelines are not kept.
Can I retake the assessment?
Yes. A retake uses a new deterministic local variation. Your previous completed result remains available until the retake is completed.
